Description

Prime Exposure Formgel

Prime Exposure Formgel is a water-based, thick retardant gel applied to formwork prior to pouring concrete. It allows you to leave the formwork in place and expose the concrete surface 6 to 48 hours after pouring — giving you flexibility and control over your finish. This timeframe is weather and concrete dependent.

Benefits

  • Retards the surface ensuring an even exposure, effortlessly removed with a brush/broom and hose or high pressure washer.
  • Fluorescent green colour ensures easy application and reduces the chances of missed or uncoated areas.
  • Water soluble and eco-friendly.
  • Unsurpassed level of surface exposure, providing an even finish and polish of stone.
  • Available through a large distributor network — wherever the job, you'll find a Prime Exposure stockist.

Coverage: Approximately 50–60m² per 20 Litre Drum

Application Guide

  • Apply with a paint brush or roller to Formply or any surface.
  • If formwork is porous, apply two coats, allowing the gel to dry between coats.
  • DO NOT DILUTE Prime Formgel. No need to stir or mix — ready to use straight from the drum.
  • For porous formwork: apply ideally 1 hour prior to pouring, then a second coat approximately 30 minutes before the concrete pour.
  • For non-porous formwork (e.g. Formply): a single generous coat 30 minutes prior to the pour is generally sufficient, depending on preferred depth of exposure.
  • Rain or excessive moisture can dilute the coating and reduce effectiveness — take care in wet conditions.
  • Be cautious when placing concrete not to wipe the Formgel off the formwork with tools (e.g. shovels).
  • Prime Formgel can be washed off 6 to 48 hours after pouring — tested on 30–32 MPa concrete. Times may vary with different MPa ratings.
  • Weather conditions and any air between the formwork and concrete surface will affect ease of removal.
  • Wash off immediately once formwork has been stripped.
  • After stripping, gauge the moisture content of the surface to determine whether to use a brush/broom and hose or a high pressure cleaner to remove the slurry and expose the surface.
  • Best applied between 5–30°C.
